Selcuk Marias house Yes, well, the Maria house is curious to say the least. Anna Katharina Emmerich, a bedridden Augustin nun, had visions describing the house of Maria. Lo and behold, a house was found in 1891 on the Aladað hill 7 kilometres from Efes, that fitted her descriptions to a T. In 1892 the Izmir bishop gave his permission to read mass here. The walls are 6th or 7th century, on a first century foundation. In the house one may find the crutches of people who were supposedly cured here hanging from the wall. When I touched their rubber anti-slip ends (what do you call them, feet?) I found them to be without any sign of wear. Miracle upon miracle |
